John W. “Jack” LaGarde, 69, of Jacques Road, Danielson, died Sunday, December 27, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester. He was the beloved husband of Lorraine J. (Almon) LaGarde, they were married April 25, 1964. He was born December 2, 1940 in Brockton, MA, son of George and Claire (Bilodeau) LaGarde.

He has made his home in Danielson for the last 36 years, formerly of Providence, a communicant of St. James Church. He was a 1959 graduate of LaSalle Academy and attended Bryant College and a graduate of RI School of Photography. Jack was a sales representative for H.B. Communications of North Haven, CT for over 38 years, retiring in 2004. Jack served the Town of Killingly on the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Board of Education for 12 years and had served as chairman, the Town Council and was recently elected to his fifth term. He was liaison to the Public Safety Board for the Town. He was a member of the South Killingly Fire Department for several years and was presently serving as a member of the Board of Directors, a member of the Town of Killingly Democratic Town Committee for over twenty years and was a former chairman. Jack will be remembered as a kind and generous person, a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. 

He leaves his wife Lorraine, his daughter Kimberly and granddaughter Jordan both of Killingly, his sister Claire Ouelette of Johnston, RI, two nieces and four nephews.

Calling Hours will be Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds Street, Danielson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 10:30 AM at St. James Church, 12 Franklin Street, Danielson followed by burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Danielson.
