Obituary of Normand R. Lavigne

NORMAND R. LAVIGNE KILLINGLY – Normand R. Lavigne, 86, of Danielson, Connecticut died peacefully on July 7, 2015 after a short illness. He was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife, Gloria M. Lavigne. They had been married for 61 years. He was born on February 27, 1929 in Chicopee, Massachusetts to Amedee and Blanche (Theroux) Lavigne. He was a veteran of World War II serving in Korea before the Korean conflict in the U.S. Army. After the service, while living in Dallas, Texas, he worked at Master Video Systems supervising the installation of master antenna systems throughout the Midwest. He was written up in one of the trade journals of that time as the “Wizard of the Wires” for his work. After moving to Connecticut he worked as the supervisor of quality control at Kendall Corporation in Willimantic, Connecticut. Later he became the sole employee of his wife, Gloria M. Lavigne, at “Baskets of Plenty” in Pomfret, Connecticut. He was well known for his works of Christian ministry. He is survived by his son, Gary D. Lavigne and his wife, Carol L. Lavigne, of South Windsor, Connecticut; his son, Paul R. Lavigne, of Danielson, Connecticut; his daughter, Gail M. Trudeau, and her husband Guy E. Trudeau, of Brooklyn, Connecticut; his daughter, Ann D. LaRoche, and her husband, Thomas LaRoche, of Boylston, Massachusetts; his daughter, Joan C. Barlow (wife of Dr. Dennis Barlow, deceased) of Eastford, Connecticut; his daughter, Susan C. Lavigne, of Rome Georgia and his brother, Guy Lavigne, and his wife, Judy Lavigne, of Pensacola, Florida. He was predeceased by his brother, Herve “Lucky” Lavigne of Cumby, Texas. Calling hours will be on Saturday, July 11, 2015, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds Street, Danielson, followed by a Family Sharing Time at 8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
