Major Harold L. von Brock, Retired US Army, 86 of Deerfield Road. Pomfret Center, died Tuesday University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, MA. He was the husband of Joyce (Jenkins) von Brock. Born October 22, 1918 in Bridgeport, son of the late Harold J. and Lulu Louise (Lown) von Brock. He made his home in Pomfret for the last 20 years moving from Greenwich. A graduate of Greenwich High School. Harold was Tax Assessor for the Town of Greenwich for many years. He served as a Major in the US Army for over 35 years, retiring in 1978, a veteran of WWII and the Korean War. He was a member of the Lions Club and the American Legion both in Greenwich. He leaves in addition to his wife: a son, William von Brock of Pomfret; a daughter, Erica Warrington of Slatersville, RI; a brother, Raymond von Brock of Bohannon, VA; two grandchildren, Jessica Lynch of Slatersville; Christian Warrington of Chium, IA ;he was predeceased by a sister Dorothy Salata in 2001. Funeral Services are private. Donations may be made in his memory to the American Diabetes Association, 300 Research Pky.,Meriden, CT 06450-7137. The Smith and Walker Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
