Obituary of Anita F. King

Anita F. King, age 92, formerly of Center Street, Putnam, died Wednesday evening at the Westview Health Care in Dayville. She was the wife of the late Nelson G. King, they were married in 1937, he died in 1987. She was born May 2, 1912 in Putnam, daughter of the late Fred and Minnie (Bellavance) Foisey. Mrs. King was employed at the former Cluet-Peabody Company in North Grosvenordale; Joes Wagon Restaurant; Box Corporation in Putnam and as a sales clerk at the former Bugbee Department Store in Putnam. She attended St Joseph School in North Grosvenordale. Mrs. King had made her home in Putnam since 1937 and was a communicant of ST Mary Church of the Visitation in Putnam. She had volunteered for the American Red Cross at Blood Banks and over 2500 hours at the Day Kimball Hospital. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and needlework, was an avid New York Yankee Baseball Fan, and also UCONN ladies and men basketball, and enjoyed watching Tiger Woods play golf. She leaves a son: Nelson King, Jr. and his wife Kerry of Dayville; a sister: Priscilla Lee of Putnam; two grandchildren: Kevin King and his wife Michelle of Plainfield; Tracy King and his wife Ann of Monroe, NJ; Great grandson: Zachary, several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her siblings Claire Foisey; Jean Bardier; Norma Madden; Raymond Foisey. The funeral will be Tuesday at 10:00 AM from the Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at ST Mary Church of the Visitation 218 Providence Street, Putnam, CT.Calling hours Monday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Funeral Home.Burial in Grove Street Cemetery in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Westview Resident Council c/o Westview Nursing Care Center, 150 Ware Road, Dayville, CT 06241.
