Obituary of Nancy L. Johnson

Nancy L. Johnson, age 78 of Holmeslea Court, South Woodstock, died Monday morning at her home. She was the beloved wife of 56 years of Gardner K. Johnson; they were united in marriage on April 10, 1949. She was born May 18, 1927 in North Windham, daughter of the late Sylvern and Nettie (Apt) Riggles. Nancy worked for over 24 years in the Nurses Office at the Woodstock Elementary School, retiring in 1994. She was an active member of the First Congregational Church of Woodstock; she had served as a Deacon and a member of the Church Choir. She was a long time member of the Concert Choir. She leaves in addition to her husband a daughter Kathleen Johnson and her husband William of Coxsackie, NY; two sons: Gardner Johnson, Jr. of Putnam; Scott Johnson of Woodstock; two brothers: John Riggles of Windsor; Elven Riggles of Enfield; a sister: Nina Demarco of Willimantic; two grandchildren; eight great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sisters: Margaret Duchesneau; Sylvia Riggles. A memorial Service will be Saturday February 19th at 2:00 PM at the First Congregational Church of Woodstock, 543 Route 169, Woodstock, CT. Burial at the convenience of the family in the New Willimantic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to The New Century Fund - The First Congregational Church, P.O. Box 147, Woodstock, CT 06281.
