Obituary of Edward S. Sirrine

Edward S. Sirrine, 80, of Pomfret, an avid Outdoorsman & World War II Veteran, died Sept. 25, 2005 in the comforts of his daughters home. Ed was a self employed house painter and Life Long Resident of Pomfret. He gave of himself to his community in so many ways. Recognized as Citizen of the Year in 1992, recipient of the Silver Beaver award in 1990 for his 25 years of dedicated leadership to Boy Scout Troop 26. He was a woodsman who had a great appreciation and knowledge for every aspect of nature and enjoyed sharing this with others. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, baseball, raising and showing his champion chickens. He was a veteran of WW II Serving with the US Army. He was the son of the late John W. Sirrine & Melba (Sheldon) Sirrine of Pomfret. He is survived by a son Curt E. Sirrine of Putnam, a daughter Joann and her husband Jim Potrzeba of Pomfret ; grand children Jonathon & Emily Potrzeba; two brothers William T. Sirrine; Fred Sirrine both of Pomfret. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday October 1, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pomfret Congregational Church, 13 Church Rd, Pomfret with military honors, followed by refreshments at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Diabetes Association, 300 Research Parkway, Meriden, CT 06450-7137.
