Alfred Nobrega, age 77 of Sabin Street, Putnam, formerly of North Grosvenordale. Died Thursday morning Jan 7 1999 at his home after a brief illness. He was the husband of Yvonne (Roy) Nobrega, they were married July 28,1956 in Killingly. He was born October 1, 1921 in West Warwick, RI, son of the late Alfred & Mary (Furtado) Nobrega. He has made his home at Little River Acres on Sabin Street for the Last two years, moving from School Street in Putnam where he lived for over 30 years. He lived for many years in North Grosvenordale. He was a communicant of ST Joseph Church, North Grosvenordale. Mr. Nobrega was a mechanic and maintenance worker. He was employed at American Thread in Willimantic, the Interoyal Co. in Plainfield, Hale Manufacturing Company in Ballouville and Belding Hemmingway in Putnam, he retired in 1984. After retiring he worked part time, and the last seven years at the Putnam Police Department as a custodian. He enjoyed auto detailing. He leaves in addition to his wife two-step daughters Rita Montpelier of Suncook, NH; Carol Montpelier of Putnam; two sisters Mary Roy of Danielson; Lucy Guilbeault of Woonsocket, RI; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a brother John Nobrega in 1978; a sister Ernestine Slyz in 1996; a stepson Armand Montpelier in 1978. He also leaves two Brothers-in-law Albert Roy and Raymond Guilbeault. The Funeral will be Saturday at 10:00 AM from the Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 grove Street, Putnam with a mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in ST Joseph Church 12 Main Street, North Grosvenordale. Calling hours Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Funeral home. Burial in St Joseph Cemetery.
