Brooklyn, Ct - Elizabeth S. Combs, 78, of Fairgrounds Road, formerly of Groton, NY, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at home with her loving son James and daughter-in-law Suzanne by her side. Wife of the late Leon J. Combs, who passed away May 22, 2010, they were married for 59 years. She was born September 8, 1932 in Cortland, NY, daughter of the late Harry and Ella (O'Rourke) Mott. She worked for Smith Corona Type Writer in NY for many years. Elizabeth volunteered at Cortland Memorial Hospital in NY. She spent her winters in Florida, where she volunteered at Lakeland Regional Hospital. She enjoyed sewing and crafts. She is survived by her son, James H. Combs and his wife Suzanne of Brooklyn, a brother, Francis Mott of NY, grandchildren, Mathew and Chelsea Combs of Preston, Ct. She was predeceased by her siblings, Ronald, Carl, Charles, Audrey, Esther and Franklin. The family would like to thank the nurses and aides at Day Kimball Home Care and Hospice, as well as her companion Millie for all their wonderful and special care given to Elizabeth in her last days. A Graveside Service will be held in Groton Rural Cemetery, in Groton, NY, at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to Hospice of NE CT, PO Box 632, Putnam, CT 06260.
