Lillian M. Ducharme of Putnam was the daughter of the late Raymond and Pearl [Carl] Jodoin of Pomfret. She last worked for Wyckoff Steel Company as the Executive Secretary for over 30 years prior to her retirement. Lillian also worked for the Putnam Foundry, The Lab at Belding Heminway and as the first secretary of Putnam’s radio station WPCT [now WINY]. After her retirement, she devoted her life to helping others through her various charitable works. Lillian was a communicant of St. Mary Church of the Visitation and was involved in several ministries associated with the church including the Council of Catholic Women, Daughters of Isabella and as a volunteer in the Visitation Ministries. She was also a life member of Auxiliary Post 1523 of the VFW. She is survived by her son Carl of Pomfret, three near-sons; Craig LaRoe and Michael Milette of Pomfret and Gerard Andrews of Putnam and one near-daughter, Dolores Kneeland of Thompson. Sisters Mary [David] Poulin of St. Petersburg FL, Teresa [David] Shirey of Oro Valley, AZ, a brother Norman [Rosemarie] Jodoin of Newburgh NY and many dearly beloved nieces and nephews. Lillian was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Adelard “Del” Ducharme, sisters Doris Madden of Hartford, Irene Matteson of Pawcatuck, Frances Steinbrick and Helen Corcoran of Pomfret and brothers Theodore Jodoin of Putnam, Raymond Jodoin Jr. of Pomfret and William Jodoin of Gloversville, NY. The Funeral will be Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 11:30 AM from the Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 Noon in St. Mary Church of the Visitation, 218 Providence Street, Putnam, CT. Calling hours are 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Friday, May 13, 2011 at the Funeral Home. Burial in ST Mary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Mary Church of the Visitation, 218 Providence Street, Putnam, CT 06260 or Most Holy Trinity Church, PO Box 235, Pomfret, CT 06258.
