Obituary of William "Bill" Wright

East Woodstock – Bill Wright, 83, of East Woodstock, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Jan (Christensen) Wright, they were married August 4, 1961. Born December 25, 1934 in Manchester, CT, son of Clinton Ruffis and Susie (Suhie) Wright.

Bill was employed with the US Post office for 37 years, retiring as a Postmaster. He also worked for Stop and Shop in Putnam for 20 years. He was a member of Christ Church in Pomfret and served in the US Airforce during peacetime for four years. He was a sports fan, enjoyed camping and above all else he loved his family. Bill was a part owner of Travelers Woods of New England Campground, an NCT member, serving as secretary, and past Master of the Putnam Lodge of Masons No. 46 AM & FM.  

He leaves his wife Jan, his children, William J. Wright, Jr. and his wife Louise of Pawcatuck, CT, Kim Nadeau and her husband Bill of Wynantskill, NY, six grandchildren, Nicole, Ashlynn, Stacia, Joshua, Thomas and Jonathan and two great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Colton. He was predeceased by his son Michael Wright, August 8, 2000.

Calling Hours Friday, January 19, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam. Funeral Service will be Saturday January 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Christ Church, 521 Pomfret Street, Pomfret, CT. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children or Shriners Hospital Burn Center, c/o Travelers Woods of New England, PO Box 88, Bernardston, MA 01337.
