To all the Farner Family and friends. I went to church with the Walkers at Putnam Baptist so you know I'm old. That facility buried my beloved grandfather Earl Johnson and 8 yrs later Elsie King Johnson. So much history. Steve was so comforting when mu husband Jim Milliard died 5/4/20201 It was the time of Covid and we had to settle for a grave-side funeral in Grove St. Steves son's treated us so well.

My mother decorated cakes with Kathy, and that’s how we met the Farner’s. Not soon after that, we started camping with them, and to me Steve was the greatest. He was funny and told a bunch of great stories and had a job that I was envious of and eventually wanted to Become a mortician, just like Steve. I actually signed up for the army for a job in graveside registration, but I was 17 and my dad wouldn’t sign the papers. They hired me as babysitter for their boys when Steve and Cathy went bowling on Sunday nights (When they lived over a funeral home in Danielson)…I couldn’t wait to see them…. Steve & Kathy we’re both very very good to me growing up, But I will never forget Steve’s kindness trying to steer me away from a career that he knew I wasn’t up for. Steve was one in 1 million, and my heart breaks for Kathy and the boys. Please know that you are in my thoughts…. All of the laughs we had camping….. And the good advice that he gave me as I eventually joined the Air Force. My most heartfelt condolences to you all.

We learned a lot about Steve in the simple comings and goings we shared as neighbors for 34 years on Grove Street. His dedication to his profession was evident as he left the house at all hours in the hearse or first call vehicle. The lights on in the upstairs windows meant he was tending to another with grace and dignity in their final chapter. He seldom took time off, but when he did, he always give a wave as he and Kathy departed in the ever-lengthening motorhome for their next adventure. Upon their return, whether in their car or RV, the doors would open, and the puppies always exited first, causing Steve to hopscotch back into the house as they ran underfoot. We saw the boys grow from teenagers to adults and eventually return with their own families for visits. Steve was a kind, hard-working man who spent a lifetime preparing others for the promised destiny that now awaits him. Godspeed, good neighbor. We are grateful to have shared a short stretch of road with you. Deepest condolences to the entire Farner family.

To the Farner family-
My sincerest condolences on the passing of your husband, father, relative and friend, STEVEN W FARNER. Being a former resident of Northeastern Connecticut long ago, periodically when family and those in association passed away, Steve was called upon for his services in which he displayed reverence, dignity and professionalism. A true example of a man well respected in his community and profession and will be sorely missed. His sons are carrying on the legacy of Steven Farner and his predecessors, Earl Gagnon Jr, and Victor Gagnon, not related, but were stellar practioners in funeral service in the Danielson and Putnam areas many years. Respectfully submitted-
David Pelletier

I am saddened to hear of Steve’s passing. For many years we worked side by side at various Putnam Lions Club activities. He was always quick with a smile and a joke and never hesitated to do what was necessary to make sure that the Lions accomplished their goals.
Keeping Kathy and the Farner family in my thoughts and prayers.

Kathy, we are so sorry to hear of Steve’s passing. It feels like ages ago that Doug and I joined the Methodist church. We adopted the kids and we all had young children. We had couple’s club to enjoy adult companionship. You and Steve were part of those memories. Blessings to you and your family.
