Obituary of Jack D. Urban

Jack David Urban

October 16, 1957 - December 8, 2024

Jack David Urban, 67, of Putnam, CT, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on October 16, 1957, Jack lived a life full of passion, creativity, and devotion to his loved ones.

Jack had an extraordinary talent for woodworking, building models, and solving puzzles hobbies that reflected his patient and detail-oriented nature. He was an avid collector of coins, stamps, and patches, combining his love of history and his appreciation for the stories behind these treasures. His passion for history deepened conversations with his loved ones and enriched the lives of those around him.

A man who wore many hats (and probably a few cat-themed ones), Jack was proud to be affectionately known as a "crazy cat guy." Equally, his joy came from spending time with his wife, Patty, and crafting meaningful moments with his grandchildren, Abigail and Austin.

Whether it was playing games, sharing lessons from the past, or simply listening, Jack had a talent for meaningful connection that touched the lives of everyone in his family.

Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Patty Urban, his devoted daughter Shana Newman, his supportive son-in-law Michael Newman, and his adoring grandchildren Abigail and Austin Newman. They, along with his extended family, friends, and anyone lucky enough to have known him, will hold his memory close to their hearts.

Jack left behind a legacy of love, craftsmanship, and curiosity. His selflessness, creativity, and warm presence will be dearly missed but lovingly celebrated.

The family invites friends and loved ones to join in remembering and honouring Jack at a celebration of life on February 8th, 1:00 p.m. at Little River Acres.

"Those we love don't go away; they walk beside us every day." Jack, in every crafted wood creation, every shared story, and every smile, you'll always be with us.
