

Obituary of Steven W. Desjardin
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Steven Desjardin, beloved son, husband, father, friend, who passed away peacefully at home with family on Thursday, February 13th, 2025. Steve was born on September 7, 1962, in Putnam, CT, the son of Lucien Robert Desjardin and Mary Ellen (Crook) Desjardin of Killingly, CT.
Steve spent much of his life in Connecticut, where he met the love of his life, Shelly (Ignasiak) Desjardin. Together they were married for 38-years and raised two wonderful children. Steven was a family man first and always. He was happily involved in his children’s lives attending school activities, and sports events, and served as assistant coach for some of his son’s teams. Steve was a wonderful man with many passions and abilities and cherished time spent with his family, especially recently with his grandson. His family meant the world to him and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Steve loved the outdoors. He loved walks in the woods, fishing, camping, and caring for his yard.
He acquired a love for plants from his grandmother, Evelyn Crook, and found much peace and joy in tending to them. Steve loved music and was also a New England sports fan. Steven was a talented artist, photographer, and movie lover. He had an adventurer’s spirit. He loved to travel and enjoyed conversations with new people. He always had a story to share. Steve was never afraid to learn new things and obtained a class-A truck driver license later in life. He loved the freedom of the open road.
Steven is survived by his wife, Shelly (Ignasiak) Desjardin; his daughter Stephanie (Desjardin) McGinnis; son-in-law Christopher McGinnis; his grandson, Rowan McGinnis all of South Carolina; his son Bryen Desjardin, and daughter-in-law Nicole Desjardin of Colorado; his parents, Lucien, and Mary (Crook) Desjardin; his brother, David Desjardin, and sister-in-law, Joanne Desjardin, and his nephew Thomas all of Killingly, CT, and his nephew Calvin of Maine; and many other extended family members and friends. A private burial and celebration of Steve’s life will be held at the discretion of the immediate family in Steve’s hometown of Killingly, CT where they will gather to honor his memory.
