

Obituary of Lucy A. Slattery
Lucy A. (Mack) Slattery, 86 of Brooklyn, CT passed away peacefully with family by her side on February 20, 2025 at St. Vincent Hospital in Bridgeport, CT. Beloved wife of Richard P. Slattery who passed on March 18, 2018. She was born on January 30, 1939 in Los Angeles, CA to Joseph and his wife Louise (Rzeznik) Mack. Lucy and Richard moved to Brooklyn, CT in 1964 where she became a teacher at Killingly Memorial School, teaching 3rd and 4th grades for more than 40 years. Lucy loved to garden and was crafty over the years, knitting and creating beaded Christmas ornaments for family. Lucy loved animals and over the years has had many types of birds, chickens, fish, cats, dogs, sheep, a rhesus monkey, and more recently, her goat Edna and her companion and friend Colby; he's her best old dog and protector! Lucy was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be missed by all who knew her. Lucy was survived by numerous family members. She leaves her children Edward Slattery and his wife Deborah of Brooklyn, CT;
James Slattery and his wife Vickie of Stuart, FL. She also leaves her four grandchildren Rebecca, Jeffrey, Brittney and Zachary and her brother Joseph Mack and his wife Georgia in California.
Lucy and Richard were devoted to attending masses at Our Lady of La Salette in Brooklyn and Our Lady of Lourdes in Hampton, CT. Lucy and Richard were avid in keeping both parish churches in good condition both physically and financially. They worked enthusiastically to maintain them. Lucy actively participated in the social events that were fun, filling and financially successful.
Visitation will be held on Sunday evening, March 2nd from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home at 33 Reynolds Street, Danielson, CT. A funeral service will take place on Monday morning, March 3rd at Our Lady of La Salette Church in Brooklyn at 11:00 AM followed with an interment at Holy Cross Cemetery on Maple Street in Danielson.
