Nancy Loefstedt

Obituary of Nancy C. Loefstedt

Nancy Christine Loefstedt (Evensen) passed away at Day Kimball Hospital on May 8, 2025, with her husband Arthur B. Loefstedt, Jr., by her side.

Born January 14, 1937 to Ellef and Helen Evensen, Nancy was raised in St Albans, Queens, New York and graduated from Andrew Jackson HS before attending Concordia College in Moorehead Minnesota. In 1957 she married her lifelong friend and neighbor Arthur B. Loefstedt, Jr. and embarked on a 68 year partnership and adventure which included raising 4 children and moving to 10 different homes in Europe and the US before settling for the last 37 years in Woodstock, Connecticut and traveling around the world to visit children, family and friends and as a tourist.

Nancy was a woman of great Christian faith and character, whose love for the Lord infused every aspect of her life with love, hard work and a sunny optimism, which gladdened her family, friends and everyone with whom she came into contact. The list of organizations in which she was actively involved or supported is too numerous to mention but they all centered on two commandments: to love the Lord above all things, and to love her neighbors as herself. Well into her 80’s Nancy provided love to those less fortunate with her visitations and piano playing and sing alongs for elderly residents of the Westview Nursing home.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 68 years, Arthur B. Loefstedt Jr. of East Woodstock, CT; her brother Kenneth Evensen of Lynbrook, NY; her cousins Marcia and Elena Schjavland of Mystic, CT and Christian Evensen (Turid) of Strengerreid, Norway; and children Arthur B. Loefstedt III (Janet) of Greer, SC; Paul Loefstedt (Meghan)  of Westport, MA; John Loefstedt (Chin Suk) of Mansfield, MA; Vivian Loefstedt Lovell (Harry) of Newport, RI; as well as 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Norman Evensen, her daughter-in-law Cindy Loefstedt and her grandson Evan C. Loefstedt.
