Obituary of Patricia Joan Henault

Patricia Joan Henault, 92, of Brooklyn, CT passed away June 3, 2025 at Pierce Memorial Baptist Home in Brooklyn, CT. She was born on June 4, 1932 in Providence, RI, daughter of the late Charles and Velena (Spooner) Costello. On August 1, 1950, she married Lucien Ronald (Ron) Henault, whom she described as “the love of her life”. Ron had enlisted in National Guard at the beginning of the Korean Conflict, and they wanted to marry quickly in case something bad happened to Ron. Well, nothing bad happened, and they had a wonderful marriage that lasted 58 years. When Ron was diagnosed with cancer in 2008, Patricia, in her late 70’s, lovingly cared for him at home until he passed. She had said that she would have cared for him forever.

Pat was a devout Catholic, and a communicant of St. James Church in Danielson, CT for 45 years. She also loved camping, and she and Ron belonged to North American Family Campers Association. She made many friends in the group and even now, years later, was still in touch with a few old friends from their camping group.

She worked at Idle Wild Farms in Pomfret, CT for many years until she retired at age 62. After retirement, she joined the Senior Corps Foster Grandparents program and helped in classrooms in the Killingly school system for many years. She really enjoyed working with the children and had a very strong fondness for the children she helped.

Her best friends were her sisters Joyce Thell and Marjorie Blair, both deceased, whom she has missed terribly. She was also predeceased by her brothers John Costello and James Carbary.

She leaves behind two children, her son Ronald C. Henault of Chaplin, CT and her daughter Laurene J. Darling of Putnam, CT, and her beloved son-in-law Edwin Darling. Also, her grandsons Christopher Caron of Woodstock, CT, Michael Caron of Putnam, CT, and Ryan Caron of Vero Beach, FL, her brother Charles Costello of Narragansett, RI, as well as a large extended family of nieces and nephews.

She was looking forward to joining her husband Ronald and her sisters and mother as well as many close friends in Heaven, as her strong faith assured her that she would be with them once again.
