Obituary of Sylvia M. Thurston

Sylvia M. Thurston, 99, of Danielson, CT passed away on June 12, 2025 at Davis Place in Danielson. She was the beloved wife of the late Norman Carroll Thurston. She was born on March 18, 1926 in Westfield, ME, daughter of the late Louis and Orpha (Fields) Brooker.

Sylvia was a graduate of the Ricker High School in Houlton, ME and then in May of 1948 graduated from the Zion Bible Institute in East Providence, RI. She loved to travel and in the summer of 1964 her and her husband took a tour of the Holy Lands. Sylvia and her husband had a business called N&S in East Windsor, CT where they sold mobile homes for many years.

She leaves her daughter Julia Kneeland (Lory) of Pomfret Center, CT; her grandchildren Nathan Kneeland (Tiffany Kneeland) of Woodstock, CT and Melanie Hurlock (William Hurlock II) of Pembroke, NH; her great grandchildren Bill Hurlock III, Natallia Kneeland, Elianna Kneeland and Aurora Kneeland; her sister Violet Nason of Las Vegas, NV. Also several niece and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Louis Brooker, Jr. and her sisters Judy Watson and Cynthia Fowlow. The family would also like to thank the staff and caregivers at Davis Place for the wonderful care Sylvia was given.

A calling hour will be Saturday, June 28, 2025 from 10:00 -11:00 AM at the First Congregational Church of Pomfret, 13 Church Road, Pomfret Center, CT. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM at the Church. Burial will be private in The State of Connecticut Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown, CT. Share a memory at Smithandwalkerfh.com
