Gloria G. (Letourneau) Tremblay
1932- 2025
Woodstock- Gloria G. (Letourneau) Tremblay, age 92, died July 31, 2025 at Pierce Memorial Baptist Home. Gloria was born at home, in Worcester, Mass, on August 21, 1932. She was the daughter of the late William and Dora (Lemay) Letourneau. She was number 11 out of 15 children. She attended St. Josephs School in Worcester, Massachusetts. For high school she attended St. Anne's Academy in Marlboro, Massachusetts and Queen of Angels in Montreal Canada. On weekends she would visit her sister, who was teaching on the Iroquois Indian Reservation in Caughnawaga, Canada. She married Alfred Ernest Tremblay in 1953. They were married for 72 years.
Gloria worked at the Norton Company in Worcester, Massachusetts as an office clerk from 1950-1953. She later worked for her sister Jeannette and her husband Raymond Lawerence at RF Lawrence Rubbish Removal, in Framingham Massachusetts, as a secretary, for 10 years. She wanted to work closer to home and was fortunate enough to work at Woodstock Elementary School as secretary to many principals. Her kindness and giving personality were great assets for this job. She loved to travel with her husband, and spend time with her daughters, Joanne and Annette. She would never miss a day of shopping with them. She was a member of the Association of Traditional Hooking Artist, ATHA rug hooking association. She enjoyed braiding rugs and family holidays.She was a lover of babies and enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Alfred Ernest Tremblay of Woodstock, CT, their two daughters, Joanne M. Laflamme, Annette G. Martel and her husband Roger R. Martel. She has three grandchildren, Joseph A. Laflamme, and his wife Allyson, Amy G. Laflamme and Kyle A. Spalding, and his wife Emily I., four great grandchildren, Lillian R. Spalding, Theo S. Spalding, Bruce A. and Henry J. Laflamme. She is also survived by her siblings, Alice, Mary Rose, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by brothers William, Wilford, Hector, Raymond, Leo, Rene, and Arthur, and her sisters, Loretta, Yvonne, Jeannette, Anita, and Marie, son in law Alan J. Laflamme and grandson Scott A. Spalding.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral at Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, CT, Wednesday, August 6th 2025 from 10 to 11 AM for calling hours with the Funeral Service starting at 11:00 AM In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to the Pierce Memorial Baptist Home on 44 Canterbury Road, Brooklyn Connecticut.
