Obituary of Catherine Somers

Catherine (Kordesta) Somers, 91, of Dayville, CT passed away November 4, 2025 at Harrington Hospital in Southbridge, MA. She was born in 1934 in Almiros, Greece. Catherine was the beloved wife of the late Edward William Somers, Sr.

Catherine immigrated to the U.S in 1947 and became a citizen in 1955. She met her husband Edward in 1956 and married in 1957 in Bridgeport, CT. They relocated to the Quiet Corner in 1993. She had a long career in retail sales and loved fashion.

Catherine loved golfing, ballroom dancing, baking, and an occasional trip to Foxwoods. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren.

She leaves behind her children Karen Somers Ashlaw of Putnam, CT (Edwin Ohop) and Edward William Somers Jr. of Attleboro, MA; her grandchildren Javin Hammond of Woodstock, CT (Joshua Scraba),  Amanda Simoneau of Brooklyn, CT (Dennis Simoneau), Edward William Somers III of Cumberland, RI (Rosangel Somers),   Brittany Laraia of Brooklyn, CT (Christopher Laraia), Stacey Benn of Fort Meyers, FL (Nicholas Benn) and Danielle Somers of Foxboro, MA (Ernny Guzman); her 12 great-grandchildren, her sisters Mary Frashuer of Stratford, CT and Theresa Lucas of Odessa, TX, and seven beloved nieces and nephews.

Calling Hours will be Monday, November 10, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds Street, Danielson, CT. A Funeral Service will be Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 80 Water St., Danielson, CT following a gathering at 9:00 AM at the Funeral Home.
