

Obituary of Jean G. Cole
Jean Gardner Cole, age 97, of Thompson, CT, devoted wife of Floyd C. Cole, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home November 8, 2025.
Born in Glasgow, Scotland April 25, 1928, Jean was the daughter of Robert and Jean (Cooper) Gardner, beloved Mother of David Cole, Ross Cole, Blair Cole, Craig Cole and Judith Cole (Rondeau), her cherished grandchildren, Alison, Jennifer, Matthew, Katie, Meghan, Sean and great grandchild Jason. She is predeceased by her twin sister Irene Gardner Keeney of Northport, Florida, her brother Dr. Robert Gardner of Ontario, Canada, sons Ross Robert Cole of Thompson, CT and David Myron Cole of Katy, Texas.
Jean was a graduate of Fitchburg State College with a degree in Special Education and a MS Degree from Wheelock College where she also taught. Jean was a Master Trainer Emeritus at the Brazelton Institute, Children’s Hospital Boston, and also was Director Emeritus and Adjunct Instructor of the NIDCAP Training at Boston Medical Center. Jean was an internationally known Infant Development Specialist and author of many articles on Assessment and Intervention of High Risk Infants.
A Memorial Service is planned for Spring of 2026. Jean will be interred at West Thompson Cemetery next to her beloved husband of 65 years, Floyd C. Cole and her sons David and Ross.
