Obituary of Carl A. Lyon, Jr.

Carl Alex Lyon Jr., born February 1st, 1946, passed away on August 25th, 2025. A proud veteran, Carl served in the Navy aboard the USS ESSEX, receiving the National Defense Service Medal, and served in the Army National Guard, where he earned the Emergency Service Award for his actions during Storm Felix on December 21, 1973. He was also designated an Expert Rifleman (M16A1).

Carl was a beautiful soul who lived and loved without hate. He was a teacher, a confidant, and an ally who gave his love unconditionally. A skilled woodworker, he shared his craft and many adventures with his loved adopted daughter, including building an enclosure for his pig, "Kevin Bacon." He proved that family is defined by more than just blood.

He is survived by his sister, Sandra Hall; his biological children, Judy Raynsford and Virginia Lyon; and his chosen daughter and family, Elisabeth Pfeifer, Cindy Pfeifer, Madeline Beardsley, and Cassidy Knight.

Carl will be buried with his mother, Virginia L. Richardson, and next to his father at Quasset Cemetery in Woodstock, CT. While we say goodbye for now, his memory remains with us until we meet again.
