Erin M. (Bulger) Widegren

Erin (Bulger) Widegren, 82, of Dunnellon, FL, formerly of Putnam and Pomfret, CT passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026, surrounded by family. She was born in Putnam on October 13, 1943, to the late Robert and Christine Bulger.

Erin was a graduate of Putnam High School and was employed by Rogers Corporation until her retirement in 2002. In retirement, she was an active member of the Kiwanis Club, Rainbow Springs, FL. She also remained active in frequent extended stays in CT/MA for family visits and shadowing her grandchildren’s activities ranging from bike races, sailing regattas, lacrosse, field hockey, baseball, hockey and soccer to dance recitals. 

Erin is survived by her husband, Walter Barry Widegren of Dunnellon, FL; her sons, Mark (Pamela) Gunsalus of Dudley, MA, Matthew (Elizabeth) Gunsalus of West Hartford, CT, Christopher (Danielle) Bulger of Marblehead, MA, and daughter Mary Gunsalus of Clinton, CT. She also leaves behind her stepdaughters Caroline (Todd) Nicholson of Alexandria, VA, and Birgit Widegren of Gardnerville, NV. She is survived by her cherished grandchildren, Megan, Gregory, Grace, Christina, Elizabeth, Barrett, John, Mackenzie, Hannah, and great grandchildren Graziella and Anthony. Erin is predeceased by her brother, Thomas Bulger.

The family would like to thank the staff at Compass Rose (Lecanto, FL) and the VITAS team for their exceptional and compassionate care for the past 18 months. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Erin to the Alzheimer’s Association or an organization of the donor’s choice.
