Obituary of Lloyd C. Mitchell, Jr.

Lloyd C. Mitchell, Jr. 76, formerly of Eastford died unexpectedly April 14, 2026 at his home in Thompson. He was born January 10, 1950 in Putnam, CT, son of the late Lloyd C. Sr. and Grace (Freeman) Mitchell.

He worked at Tatem’s Mill in Eastford, CT, Dimension Sail Cloth in Putnam, CT and Dartex Coatings in Slatersville, RI. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed bass fishing. Lloyd loved music, especially Jimmy Hendricks and he played in house bands. He also loved his cats.

He leaves his siblings Beverly Mitchell (Nick) of Vernon, CT, Grace Mominie (Jan) of Southbridge, MA, Dayle Mitchell (Martha Mudge) of Oxford, MA, Sherman Mitchell (Niki) of Dayville, CT, Shirley Mitchell (Mark) of CT, nieces Madyson, Elizabeth, Stephanie and nephew Bryon, Shawn. He was predeceased by his mother Grace and sisters Barbara and Betty.

A Celebration of Lloyd's life will be at a later date. Funeral services are private. Lloyd will be buried in Grove cemetery in Eastford, CT. Services have been entrusted to Smith and Walker funeral home 148 Grove St. Putnam, CT. Share a memory with his family at Smithandwalkerfh.com
