Obituary of Frank L. DiRienzo, Jr.
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Frank L. DiRienzo Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who peacefully departed this life on May 29, 2026 at the age of 74, after a long and courageous battle with illness. Born on November 12, 1951, in Stoneham, Massachusetts, Frank lived a life full of love, dedication, and resilience, leaving an unforgettable mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Frank was the cherished son of the late Frank and Rita DiRienzo, who predeceased him.
He was a devoted and loving husband to Carol, his partner of 43 years, whom he married on June 18, 1983. Together, they built a life rich in love and laughter, and Frank's legacy lives on through his children: Frankie (Shannon) DiRienzo, Michael (Haila) DiRienzo, and Veronica DiRienzo. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Haley, Skyla, and little Frankie, who were the lights of his life. Frank shared a special bond with his brother, Michael (Diane) DiRienzo, and his sister, Brenda Tremblay. He will be fondly remembered by his nephews, Joey (Lori) DiRienzo, Robert (Joanne) DiRienzo, and Vincent (Karen) DiRienzo, while his nephew Michael and (Eileen) DiRienzo predeceased him. Frank's family extends across Massachusetts, Rumford, Maine, and across the United States where many relatives mourn his passing and celebrate his remarkable life.
A proud graduate of Malden High School and vocational school, Frank pursued his passion for precision and craftsmanship by becoming a skilled tool and die machinist. His career took him from Peabody, Massachusetts, to California's Aerospace manufacturing sector, and even to Canada, where he met his beloved Carol. On returning to the U.S., Frank's entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly as he founded Eagle Aerospace with Carol, later selling it to Loos & Co. before starting Aerotech Fasteners in Putnam, CT., a testament to his enduring passion and dedication to his craft. His integrity and expertise earned him immense respect in the aerospace industry and the communities where he lived and worked.
Frank's love for technology was evident in his passion for computers, often building them from scratch. His kindness, humor, and generosity were legendary, and he was a guiding light to all who needed support or advice. Frank's favorite saying, inspired by Frank Sinatra, was "I did it my way," a testament to his unique approach to life and the legacy he leaves behind. Frank was also a polio survivor, which did not stand in his way of living his life.
Calling hours for Frank will be held at from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm Smith and Walker Funeral Home, located at 148 Grove Street, Putnam, CT 06260 on Saturday June 13, 2026. Service to follow at 1:30, burial in Grove Street Cemetery, Putnam, CT.
