Obituary of June Wetherell

June Wetherell, 91, of Putnam, Connecticut, passed away on July 12, 2026, at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. She was born on April 23, 1935, in East Killingly, Connecticut, the daughter of the late Howard and Ruby (Carroll) Soule.

June's early life was marked by her strong work ethic and dedication. She worked for many years at Kmart, where she built lasting friendships before retiring.

A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, June is survived by her grandchildren: Jen Lamoureux; Penny Paquette and her husband, Kyle; Melissa Smith; Joshua Wetherell and his wife, Rebecca; Kristen Wetherell; and Christopher Wetherell. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Chandon, Aubrey, Lucas, and Kenny, as well as many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.

June was predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard Wetherell; her son, Michael Wetherell; and her daughter, Deborah Smith.

Known for her love of cats and bingo, June enjoyed many afternoons playing bingo with her daughter and friends at the local VFW Hall and area churches. She stayed busy creating plush pillows, playing slot games on her iPad, and watching her favorite game shows on the Game Show Network. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her family and watching her great-grandchildren participate in sports.
