Obituary of Eleanor M. Smith

Eleanor M. Smith, 88, of Woodstock passed away August 28, 2026. She was the beloved wife of the late William “Ken” Smith.

She was born in Putnam, CT on December 22, 1937, to the late Earl and Mary (Chandler) Fenner. She was predeceased by her brothers Ronald and Earnest Fenner. She is survived by her sister Julia Duquette and her husband Francis of Thompson.  

Ellie and Ken were married June 8, 1956. She leaves behind three daughters, Kim Donovanand her partner Rocky, Brenda Benoit and her husband Albert, Jr., Susan Derosier and her husband Philip.

In addition, she leaves grandchildren Sean, Kathy, Jason, Brandy, Bridgette and Maxwell, six great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Ellie worked in the Woodstock Middle School Kitchen while the girls were in school. Later she waitressed at Village Restaurant in Woodstock. She was also a lifelong member of the East Woodstock Congregational Church. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Funeral will be on Thursday, September 10, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the East Woodstock Congregational Church, 220 Woodstock Road, Woodstock, CT.
