Obituary of Gregory E. Nichols

Gregory E. Nichols 64 of Stonebridge Road, Woodstock, CT, died Wednesday at the Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam. He was the beloved husband of Susan (Yankus) Nichols. He was born May 27, 1945 in Putnam, son of Edward and Marion Nichols. Greg was a crane operator working for Union local #478 in Hamden, for 41 years, retiring in 2007. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving with the US Navy and was honorably discharged, December 1, 1969. He made his home in the Putnam-Woodstock area most of his life. He had a passion for motorcycles and in his youth he raced motorcycles throughout the US and overseas. He enjoyed traveling in his RV with his wife. Greg was a kind, considerate, and caring person, he always went out of his way to help anyone. He leaves his wife Susan, a son Gregory Nichols, Jr. of Putnam; two step sons: Jason Pawloski of Brooklyn, Ryker Pawloski of North Carolina; granddaughter: Savanna Nichols of Putnam. Funeral Service will be Monday at 11:00 AM at the Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, CT. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Funeral Home.
