Gertrude F. Opacki July 17, 1912 - December 5, 2009 Gertrude F. Opacki, 97, of Putnam, passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2009, at the Matulaitis Nursing Home in Putnam, CT. The daughter of Robert and Gertrude Bryden, born in Holliston, MA. She lived in Connecticut for the past 24 years. She was very active in the nursing profession all her life and a retiree of a Massachusetts state hospital facility. Gertrude is survived by two sons: Roger and his wife Diane of Webster, MA and Ray of Westerly, RI. She was predeceased by her son David of Yuma, AZ in October, 2008. She has many grandchildren and great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. The Funeral will be Wednesday at 10:00 AM at the Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam with the Rev. Glen Rice, officiating. Calling hours are Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Funeral Home. Burial in West Thompson Cemetery, West Thompson, CT. Donations may be made in her memory to the Matulaitis Nursing Home, 10 Thurber Road, Putnam, CT 06260. The Smith and Walker Funeral Home, Putnam, is directing arrangements. www.smithandwalkerfh.com
