Raymond P. Normandie, Jr, 71 of Mechanic Street, Danielson, died January 1, 2010 at the Day Kimball Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Helen (LeClaire) Normandie; they were married August 2, 1958. He was born June 24, 1938 in Putnam, son of the late Raymond and Virginia C. (Shermansky) Normandie. He was raised in Brooklyn and made his home in Danielson most of his life, a communicant of St. James Church. Ray was a truck driver and mechanic, he drove the US Mail for the Wernicki family, and operated his own trucking company, R & H Trucking for over 40 years. He was a skilled and knowledgeable mechanic, he cared and serviced all his trucks and refurbished many of them. He enjoyed driving, over the road or a trip with his wife to Maine. Ray's family always came first; he was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather. He enjoyed country music. He leaves his wife Helen, a son: Raymond P. Normandie, III of Danielson; two daughters: Sharon Rae Helms and her husband Peter of Woodstock, Renee Jean Normandie of Dayville, grandchildren Shanda West, Ashley West, Courtney Normandie, his brothers: Robert Normandie of Danielson; Donald Normandie of Pomfret; sisters: Delia Brien of Danielson; Mary Sue Pagay of NY and MD; several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday at St. James Church, Danielson. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery.
