Obituary of Harry A. Vanasse

Killingly - Harry A. Vanasse of Pineville Road, beloved husband and father passed away peacefully at home, February 2, 2010, surrounded by his family at the age of 92. He was born September 21, 1917 in Putnam, son of the late Arthur and Alice Vanasse. He retired in 1987 after 23 years from the former Mansfield State Training School. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed gardening and traveling with his wife. He was a Veteran of World War II serving with the US Army Air Corps. He leaves his wife of 68 years, Grace (Larkin) Vanasse, seven children; Ronald Vanasse of Killingly; Carole Harwood of Putnam; Dennis Vanasse of Putnam; Lee Marquis of Thompson; David Vanasse of Putnam; Gary Vanasse of Killingly; Stephen Vanasse of Killingly; fifteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was predeceased by a granddaughter Grace Sliva. He leaves "Taco" his faithful pet of twelve years. A Memorial Service will be Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, CT. There will be a Calling Hour Saturday from 12 Noon until time of service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Harry's memory to Hospice of NE CT, PO Box 632, Putnam, CT 06260.
