Joan C. Bourdia, 71, of Birchwood Terrace, Danielson, died Monday, April 19, 2010, surrounded by her loving family at Matulaitis Nursing Home in Putnam. She was the beloved wife of Lionel Bourdia, they were married January 8, 1955 in St. Joseph Church in Dayville, he died in 2002. She was born September 29, 1938 in Putnam daughter of the late Alfred and Laura (Neveu) LaFontaine, She was a communicant of St. James Church, she made her home in Danielson all of her life and attended Killingly Schools. After her marriage she devoted herself to raising and caring for her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo. She leaves her children: Debra Diaz of Webster, MA; Randy Bourdia of Danielson, Judy Sherman of Moosup, siblings: Richard LaFontaine of MI; Joyce Franks of MI, four grandchildren and eight grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son Allen Bourdia in 2009 and a brother Ronald LaFontaine. The Funeral will be Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 8:45 AM from Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds Street, Danielson followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM at St. James Church, 12 Franklin Street, Danielson.
