Obituary of Joan Louise Sabourin

Joan Louise (Barrett) Sabourin, of East Killingly, passed away at the Day Kimball Hospital with all her family members by her side. She was the beloved wife of 48 years of Robert E. Sabourin. She was born November 29, 1942 in Hartford, daughter of the late Ervin and Esther (Morhous) Barrett. She had made her home on Slater Hill Road in East Killingly for many years. She retired from Ames Department Store after 25 years of service. Joan enjoyed spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. She loved gardening, making puzzles, watching the Red Sox, UConn Basketball and Notre Dame Football. She leaves in addition to her husband Robert, her children Debra J. Desmarais of East Killingly and her significant other Mark Montigny; Donna Robinson and her husband Michael of Putnam; Robert E. Sabourin, Jr. and his fiancée Colette LaMontagne of Putnam; grandchildren: Gregory Desmarais and his wife Diana (Pazul) Desmarais, Kayla (Desmarais) Church and her husband Dominic Church, a sister Claire Waite of Simsbury, many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a brother Oliver (Bud) Barrett of Hampton died in 2008. Services are private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the CT Audubon Society, 189 Pomfret St., Pomfret Center, CT 06259.
