John Henry Leins, age 82, died June 2, 2010 in Beaverton Oregon after a prolonged illness. John was born December 29th, 1927 in the Germantown section of New York City. He served in the Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theatre. John worked many years as a radiologist at Day Kimball Hospital then worked for Pratt & Whitney. In later years John worked overseas as an engineering consultant and traveled extensively in Europe and Asia. John’s “third career”, as he liked to call it was as an artist in the Portland Oregon area. John was an accomplished painter specializing in watercolors and oriental painting and a respected photographer. Two of his photographs were displayed in the State Capitol Building in Portland. John also was a Ti Chi instructor at his senior housing facility. John was predeceased by his wife, Marjorie McNiff Leins. John is survived by his son, John H Leins, Jr. of Brooklyn CT, his daughter, Pamela A (Leins) Robbins of Willimantic, CT, 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Services are private.
