Obituary of Helen E. Woodis
Helen Woodis, 96 of Walnut Street, Putnam. Died Wednesday evening June 16, 2010 at the Matulaitis Nursing Home in Putnam. She was the beloved wife of Leslie P. Woodis; they were married May 29, 1935. She was born August 7, 1913 in Putnam, daughter of the late Leonard and Helen (Lussier) Diamond.
Helen worked at the Grant Store in Putnam for over 17 years, and later worked seven years at Bugbee's Department store as a sales clerk. She was a member of the Putnam United Methodist Church and had served as a Sunday School Teacher. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Helen had a great love and compassion for her children and grandchildren.
She leaves her husband of 75 years Leslie, her children: Wayne Woodis of King George, VA; David Woodis of Pascoag, RI; Cynthia Curran of New York, NY; June Meadows of Mentor, OH; seven grandchildren; eight grandchildren; two great great grandchildren, and nieces.
The Funeral will be Monday June 21, 2010 at 12:00 Noon at the Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, CT. A calling hour will be Monday from 11:00 AM until time of service. Burial in Grove Street Cemetery, Putnam.
