Obituary of Marie L. Coates

Marie L. Coates, 73, of Marshall Street, Putnam, died unexpectedly Saturday morning at the Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam. She was the wife of the late Joseph B. Coates, III, he died November 4, 2004. She was born September 19, 1936 in Uxbridge, MA, daughter of the late Henri and Marcella (Ledoux) Bedard. Marie was a communicant of St Mary of the Visitation Church in Putnam where she served as a lector for several years. She has made her home in Putnam since 1971. She devoted her life to raising her six children. She enjoyed knitting, doing word searches and coloring Fuzzy Posters. She had a great love for her children and grandchildren. She leaves her sons: Michael Grassini of Putnam; Steven Grassini and his wife Ruth of Danielson; Scott Grassini of Danielson; Fred Decoster, Jr. of Brooklyn; her two daughters: Elizabeth Ponzi and her husband Joseph of Danielson; Michelle Smith and her husband Bruce of Moosup; one brother Jeffrey Bernard of Alabama; sisters Christine Castonguay and her husband Donald of Putnam; Celeste Lee of Alabama and Charlotte Bernard of Maryland; grand children: Bruce, Tyler, David Samantha and Timothy; and a great grandson Mason Lee; several nieces, nephews and close friends. The Funeral will be Thursday at 11:15 AM from the Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, followed by a 12 Noon Mass of Christian Burial in ST Mary of The Visitation Church, 218 Providence Street, Putnam. Calling Hours Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Funeral Home. Burial in ST Mary Cemetery. Donations may be made in her memory to the Putnam EMS Ambulance Services, 191 Church St, P.O.
