Obituary of Herman A. Freyer, Jr.

Herman A. Freyer, Jr., 88, of Dayville, CT, passed away Friday, September 10, 2010 at Regency Heights, Danielson, CT in the company of his loving wife. Herman was born Febuary 13, 1922 in Brooklyn, New York, son of the late Bernice (Greene) and Herman Freyer, Sr. He was a U.S. Army World War II Veteran and served with the Tenth Mountain Division, 87th Infantry from December 1942 until Novembwer 1945. Herman was a Machinist by trade and had worked for many years at Pervel Industries in Plainfield, CT, Turnquist Lumber Mill in Foster, R.I. and Acme Cotton/National Patent Company, Dayville until his retirement. Herman was an avid motorcycle operator/mechanic and sports car enthusiast. He leaves his devoted wife of 59 years, Edith F. (Fittkau) Freyer, one daughter, Joy Beatty and her husband Thomas Beatty and their two children Erica and Kyle; two sons, Alan Freyer and his wife Adrienne of South Dakota, Max Freyer and his wife Jacklyn and their two children Matthew and Brandan of Dayville. He was predeceased by a third son Stephen Freyer who passed away on March19, 2008, and a brother George E. Freyer who passed on away May 9, 1979. There will be a Graveside Service with Military Honors at Maplewood Cemetery, 184 Salem Turnpike Norwich, CT at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, September 15, 2010. In lieu of flowers, donations in Herman's memory may be made to the Connecticut Department of Veterans' Affairs, 287 West St., Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
