Obituary of Bertha L. Moffitt

Bertha L. Moffitt, 85, of Darby Road, Brooklyn, died Thursday at the Pierce Memorial Baptist Home in Brooklyn. She was the wife of the late Norman Hubert. And they were married February 16, 1946 in St. Mary's Church, Baltic. He died August 24, 1967. She married Charles Moffitt, Sr., August of 1977, and he died October 7, 1983. She was born in Baltic, September 5, 1925, daughter of the late Felix and Louise (St. Germain) Provencher. She attended local schools including Norwich Free Academy. She worked at the former Baltic Mills. After relocating to Danielson, she continued to work in textile mills. Her final employment was at Superwinch Corp in Putnam. She was a member of the Plainfield Senior Citizens, enjoyed crocheting, knitting, was an avid Red Sox Fan, a communicant of St. James Church, enjoyed traveling with her late friend Blanche. Her grandchildren were the love of her life. She leaves a son: Michael Hubert of Jewett City, a daughter: Kathleen Radel and her husband William of Brooklyn; a sister: Jeannette Daigneault of Canterbury; her beloved grandchildren: Jarrad Pechie; Justin Pechie; Jamie Pechie, step grandchildren: Jonelle Radel and Donald Radel, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Andre Provencher, sisters Doris Propster and Rachel Trahan. Funeral Monday at 9:15 from the Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds Street, Danielson, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. James Church, 12 Franklin Street, Danielson. Calling hours Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Danielson. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Pierce Baptist Home, PO Box 326, Brooklyn, CT 06234.
