Obituary of Lillian A. Viens

Lillian A. Viens, 100, of Pierce Memorial Baptist Home, Brooklyn, CT, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2010. She was born in Wauregan, CT, May 12, 1910, daughter of the late Leonidas and Elizabeth (Gamache) Lacombe. She was the wife of Archie A. Viens who predeceased her in 1976. She is survived by her son Raymond P. Viens and his spouse Joanne of Cape Canaveral, FL and Rutherfordton, NC, her daughters, Elaine Barbeau Femino and her spouse Joseph of Brooklyn, CT, Jeanine V. Lisee and her spouse Joseph Haggerty, Sr. of Bradenton, FL and Brooklyn, CT. She also leaves her grandchildren, Roger Viens and his spouse Lisa of Crownsville, MD; Michelle B. Daley and her spouse George of Canterbury, CT; Shelly D. Viens of Cape Canaveral, FL; Marc J. Barbeau of Old Saybrook, CT; Christopher S. Lisee and his spouse Georgina of N. Hollywood, CA; her great grandchildren, Colin Viens, Kelly Viens, Kevin Viens of Crownsville, MD; Stephanie Daley of Canterbury. Lillian was predeceased by her three brothers, Leodore, Armand and Roland Lacombe and her sister Rita Boucher. Mrs. Viens devoted her life to the role of hard-working and dedicated homemaker, keeping a clean and organized home, happily and lovingly taking care of her family. She enjoyed crocheting and gave numerous beautiful handmade afghans to charitable organization such as "Paul Newman's Hole in the Wall Gang Camp", area churches, many local beneficiaries, as well as, family and friends. Mrs. Viens had resided at Pierce Memorial Baptist Home since 2002. She will be greatly and sadly missed by not only her family, but by many of her extended family of caregivers at Pierce. The Funeral will be Saturday October 30, 2010 at 10:30 AM from the Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds St., Danielson, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. James Church, 12 Franklin St., Danielson. A calling hour Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the funeral home. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Danielson. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to Pierce Memorial Baptist Home, Recreation Department, PO Box 326, Brooklyn, CT 06234.
