Obituary of John M. Dauray

John M. Dauray, 78, of Pomfret Center, CT, formerly of Woonsocket, RI and Uxbridge, MA, died Friday, November 26, 2010 at UMASS Medical Center in Worcester, MA. Beloved husband of 57 years to the late Sybil R. Dauray, she died November 9, 2010. He was born March 21, 1932 in Woonsocket, RI, son of the late Albert Joseph and Louise (Labossiere) Dauray. John attended Moses Brown School in Providence, RI, graduated from Boston University with a degree in business. He worked for his father at Electric Maintenance in Woonsocket, RI for several years before opening Dauray Furniture in Linwood, MA and later he also worked for several furniture stores. John then went on the road becoming a furniture and rug salesman. John's favorite hobby was archeology, he was especially proud of a Quartz Quarry he found that had been published in a national magazine. He also enjoyed genealogy, coin collecting and his antique cars. John was a member of the Pomfret Lion's Club and a member of the Unitarian Church in Uxbridge, MA. He leaves his three daughters Diana Esposito of Florida, Deborah Newman of Oregon, Holly Dauray of Connecticut, a brother Albert Dauray of Vermont, six grandchildren, Benjamin, Hannah, Adam, Sarah, Lamont, Lamoges and three great grandchildren Avalon, Bentley, Chevelle and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Sybil, son Charles Dauray; a grandson Wesley Bernklow; a granddaughter Bethany Dauray. A Graveside Service will be Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 11:00 AM in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Uxbridge, MA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Bethany Dauray Memorial Scholarship at Woodstock Academy, c/o Kristen Willis, 57 Academy Road, Woodstock, CT 06281.
