Obituary of Marie Doris Gamelin

"Sister Doris"Marie Rose Doris Gamelin, 90, of Danielson, CT passed away on November 10, 2023. She was born January 30, 1933 in Danielson, CT, daughter of the late Lucien and Irene (Lemay) Gamelin.

Doris was a Communicant of St. James Church and a member of the Daughters of Isabella. She was a lifelong resident of Danielson. Doris was also a member of the Telephone Union and worked as an operator for SNET and was promoted  to Supervisor before she retired in 1983 after 32 years of service. After retirement she joined the Secular Franciscan Order as a lay minister on November 20, 1988 which was the Feast of Christ of Kings. Doris volunteered at Day Kimball Hospital for 26 years and for over 30 years at the St. James Rectory. She also volunteered for the Red Cross Blood Mobiles.

She leaves her sister Muriel Marion and her husband Roderick of Scotland, CT; her nieces Brenda Marion and Jeanne Marion Ladd and her husband Colin and her nephew/Godson Glen Marion, Sr. She was predeceased by her step-mother Yvonne Gamelin.

Calling Hours will be on Thursday, November 16, 2023 from  9:00 to 10:30 AM at Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds Street, Danielson, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at  11:00 AM at St. James Church, 12 Franklin Street, Danielson, CT. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery Danielson, CT.
