Karoly St. King

Obituary of Karoly Gisele St. King

Karoly Gisele St. King, 66, of Woodstock, CT, formally of Eastford, passed away, Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, CT after battling a long-term illness. Born a twin on May 2, 1957 in Stafford Springs, CT, daughter of the late Joseph and Gizella (Rosyar) St. King.

Karoly worked as a Special Education Teacher for the State of Connecticut. She taught at Connecticut Children’s Place School, Department of Children and Families.

Karoly had lived a very full life. When she was a child she dreamed of becoming a teacher. She eventually turned this dream into a reality. One of her major accomplishments in this field was being featured in the Hartford Courant in 1997 and honored as “Teacher of The Year” for Connecticut’s Unified School District II. Karoly loved the water. She always wanted to live on a lake, this too became a reality. She purchased a cabin located on St. Mary’s Pond in Woodstock. She and her twin sister gave it the name “Sunset Sanctuary”.

She enjoyed many things. She had an affinity for cooking, reading, swimming and collecting antiques. She adored animals, especially the ones that needed rescuing. She was very open minded and did not discriminate when it came to size. She rescued a 650 lbs. pig named Bouncer, her beloved little Chihuahua named Stefani and her tabby cat Juliette. Karoly was a strong and kind woman. She was always ready to defend a cause that she truly believed in! She will be sorely missed by many people but especially by her twin sister. The world has lost a remarkable woman!

She leaves her beloved twin sister Christine Quintal and her husband Bob; her niece Dagmar Noll; her Godchildren Whitney Klare and Jordan Quintal. Also her extended family, good friends and long-term dear friend/pen pal John O’Brien from England, UK.

A Private Graveside Service will be held in the spring at North Woodstock Cemetery, Woodstock, Connecticut. Share a memory at www.smithandwalkerfh.com
