Obituary of James A. Leclerc

James A. Leclerc, 73, of East Killingly, formerly of Woodstock and Putnam, died Tuesday at the Haven Health Center in Danielson after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born September 24, 1935 in ST Johnsbury, VT, son of the late Antonio and Ruth (Allen) Leclerc. He had made his home in East Killingly for the last thirty years. He was employed for over thirty years at Tilcon - Tamasso in Wauregan, as a Heavy Equipment Operator. He served in the US Army from 1957 to 1959, stationed in Korea. He enjoyed working on his "Toys" his antique trucks and tractors, he could fix just about anything, always willing to lend a hand to help his family or a friend. He enjoyed his winters in Florida and also enjoyed dancing. He leaves his children: Janet Johnson and her husband Glenn of Brooklyn; Tony Leclerc of Putnam; Ray Leclerc of Pomfret; a sister: Barbara Leclerc and her husband Bevan Crighton of Oakdale; grandchildren: Skye Johnson; Cassandra Johnson, both of Brooklyn; niece: Deborah Chaffee Brown of Deep River; nephews: Robert Chaffee of Willimantic; Michael Chaffee of Storrs. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, June 28, 2009 at 6:00 PM at the Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam. Calling Hours will be Sunday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Funeral Home. Burial at a later date in Central Cemetery Woodstock. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to Hospice of NE CT, PO Box 632, Putnam, CT 06260.
