Obituary of Violet Cardinal
Danielson-Violet Cardinal, 88 of L'Homme Street, Danielson, died Sunday, June 28, 2009 at Day Kimball Hospital. Beloved wife of 49 years of Clarence Cardinal, he died in 1991. She was born August 23, 1920 in Danielson, daughter of the late Eric A. and Aurore (Robillard) Welcher.
She had made her home in Danielson all of her life, a graduate of ST James School and Killingly High School. Violet was a communicant of ST James Church in Danielson, a member of Putnam Travelers Club and active with the Cub Scouts. She operated her preschool known as "Little People Nursery School" from 1982 until her retirement. She had worked for 18 years at Miss Leach's Nursery School and Kindergarten and previously was employed at the Institute of Living in Hartford, General Insurance Company in Hartford and William Prym Company in Dayville. She volunteered at Day Kimball Hospital and the John Dempsey Center for several years. Violet's joy in life was teaching and nurturing young children and seeing that they had a good foundation in life. She stayed in contact with many of her former students throughout the years. Violet received her certificate of Teachers Aide and Early Child Development from the University of Connecticut and also received several certificates of award from the Quinebaug Community College.
She leaves her sons: Richard W. Cardinal and his companion, Diane Valenti of Moosup, Kenneth G. Cardinal and his wife Cindy of Pomfret, two beloved grandsons, Trevor Cardinal of Danielson and Tory Cardinal of Pomfret.
Funeral Services are private at Violet's request. Donations may be made in her memory to the ST Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 ST Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
