Maurice Alfred "Moe" Aubin, 81, of Plainfield, died unexpectedly, Sunday, September 13, 2009 at Orchard Grove Care Center in Uncasville, CT. Beloved husband of Leola (Gallo) Aubin. Born September 4, 1928 in Wauregan, son of the late Walter and Dora (Beauchemin) Aubin. Maurice attended Sacred Heart School in Wauregan and graduated from Killingly High School in 1946 where he played football. After graduation, he continued to play football with the Blackhawks. Moe was known for his long-time devotion to the New York Giants. In addition to football, he enjoyed music, reading, crossword and Sudoku puzzles, Jeopardy, visiting the seashore, and spending time with family and friends, especially his wife Lee. He had an interest in stockcar racing in the 1950's following the V-3. He was a past chief of the West Wauregan Fire Company, and a life member of the Elks in Danielson. Maurice worked at Wauregan Mills, Pratt & Whitney, Spirol, and Electric Boat. He retired as a machinist from Electric Boat in 1991. In addition to his devoted and loving wife of Leola, he leaves his sister Claire Green of West Wauregan, his children and stepchildren: daughters: Elaine and Michael Bessette of Danielson; Julie and John Bence of Groton; Jennifer Aubin of Danielson; Lori and Paul Baribeau of Brooklyn, sons: Peter and Kim Aubin of Danielson, Andrew and Debra Aubin of Sterling; Jay and Cheryl Gallo of Uxbridge, MA, 11 grandchildren: Christina Stadolnik, Melissa Nichols, Nicholas Aubin, Tayler Aubin, Olivia Bence, James Aubin, Scott Baribeau, Matthew Baribeau, Daniel Gallo, Heather Gallo, and Philip Gallo, five great-grandchildren: Grace Nichols, Ty Nichols, Ever Gallo, Jasper Gallo, Mina Gallo. He was predeceased by his sister Madeline Dumeer and his ex-wife Avis Aubin earlier in 2009. The Funeral will be Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at 9:15 AM from the Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds Street, Danielson, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church in Wauregan, 620 Wauregan Road, Brooklyn, CT. Calling Hours are from 6:00 to 9:00 PM, Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at the Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home. Burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Wauregan. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Danielson Lodge of Elks, Building Fund, 13 Center Street, Danielson, CT 06239.
