Obituary of William Reynolds Temple

William R Temple, 88, of 645 Quinebaug Road died Sunday, August 23rd at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Ticonderoga, NY in 1921. He was the husband of Ada G. Temple. They were married for 57 years. In addition to his wife he leaves sons Forrest W. Temple and his wife, Blanche, of New Haven, CT; Mark R. Temple and his wife, Susanne, of Glastonbury, CT; William Scott Temple and Susan Smyth of Waterbury, CT; daughters Tracy W. Chapin and her husband, Kevin, of Marietta, GA; Kristin B. Temple Cummings and her husband, Timothy Cummings, of Westwood, MA. He leaves nine grandchildren, Andrew B. Chapin and Laura W. Chapin of Marietta, GA; Megan C. Temple, Douglas R. Temple, Annie E. Temple, and Sarah T. Temple of Glastonbury, CT; Daniel Smyth Temple of Waterbury, CT; Dylan W. Cummings and Ella W. Cummings of Westwood, MA. Mr. Temple is also survived by cousins Margaret Rodger of Weekapaug, RI and George Lipphardt of Mystic, CT. He graduated in 1943 with an engineering degree from Clarkson University where he was a lifelong hockey supporter. During his career he held a variety of engineering and manufacturing positions at Norwich Pharmaceutical, Gillette Safety Razor, and Belding Hemingway of Putnam, CT from which he retired in 1991. Mr. Temple enjoyed spending time working in his yard, his home and most of all being with his family. Donations may be made to the Thompson Public Library, 934 Riverside Dr., North Grosvenordale, Ct. 06255 or Day Kimball Hospital Homemakers, 320 Pomfret Street, Putnam, Ct. 06260. A private burial was held on Thursday, August 27th in Granville, NY. Smith and Walker Funeral Home directed arrangements.
