Obituary of Edwin C. Ohop

Edwin C. Ohop, 91, of Davis Ave, Danielson, CT, died Friday at the Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam. He was the beloved husband of Irene Orszulak Ohop, they were married May 6, 1950 at St. James Church. He was born December 6, 1917 in Southbridge, MA, son of the late Michael and Catherine (Picus ) Ohop. He attended local schools and Cole Trade High School where he took up plumbing and steam fitting. Upon completion of his education he went to work for Local #4 in Worcester. In 1942 he enlisted in the US Navy and served aboard the USS Guest, he was honorably discharged in 1945 and returned to Local #4. After his marriage his family settled in Danielson and he went to work for the Norwich Local and then State Wide #777. He was a plumber /steam fitter for over 50 years, retiring in 1983. He worked on nuclear plants, numerous local plants, Frito Lay, sewage plants and many schools. He loved gardening, traveled in the US and abroad, he enjoyed bowling, fishing and was an avid walker. He was a communicant of ST James Church Danielson and a member of Local #777 Brotherhood of Pipe Fitters. He leaves his wife Irene, his son Edwin C. Ohop, II of Danielson and his companion Karen Ashlaw of Pomfret; several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a sister , Jennie Czyewski; three brothers Timothy, Joseph and Francis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 11:30 AM in St. James Church, 12 Franklin Street, Danielson. Burial with Military Honors in Holy Cross Cemetery, Danielson.
