When I walked into your store the other day, I heard that Herman had passed and was handed a piece of paper with services information. I looked at Herman’s store-opening date of 1954; and I was immediately taken back to my young childhood and particular unhappy trip to a (Unionville) hardware store, to return a defective piece of pipe. I left that store in tears (my father later resolved the situation). Had that hardware store been Mansfield Supply, I am sure the resolution would have been very, very much different. To me, reliving this experience, probably 50 years ago, was very powerful.
Integrity, service, humility…his life. These three simple, yet powerful, words could be considered to be his of mission statement. He instilled these qualities in his family and they practice them every day. Thank you.
