Obituary of Sandra M. Johnson
Sandra M. Johnson, 65, of Woodstock, died Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at the Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam. She was born September 16, 1944 in Cambridge, MA, daughter of the late Richard and Mary (Callan) Johnson.
She lived in Woodstock all her life and was a communicant of Most Holy Trinity Church in Pomfret. Sandra was a School Teacher at Mary Fisher Elementary School in Thompson, teaching third grade for thirty seven and a half years. She volunteered many hours at the Provincial House in Putnam. She enjoyed quilting, was a Red Hatter and a bowler in a Bowling League at Friendly Bowl in Brooklyn.
She leaves her brother Richard and his wife Denise of Woodstock, two nieces: Christine Polazzo and her husband John of Attawaugan; Rebecca Burnell and her husband Brad of Woodstock, grand nieces and nephews: Megan Vertefeuille, Isaac Burnell and Olivia Burnell, uncles aunts and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Monday, December 14, 2009 at St Mary Church of the Visitation, 218 Providence Street, Putnam. Calling Hours will be Sunday, December 13 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at the Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam. Burial will be at a later date in Elmvale Cemetery in Woodstock. Donations may be made in her memory to the Oncology Department, Day Kimball Hospital, PO Box 632, Putnam, CT 06260 or Muddy Brook Fire Department, PO Box 222, East Woodstock, CT 06244-0222 or Woodstock EMS, PO Box 222, South Woodstock, CT 06267.
