Obituary of Cecile T. Rainey
Cecile Rainey, 84, of South Main Street, Brooklyn, died Saturday, December 19, 2009 after a long illness at home with her loving family at her side. She was the wife of the late Thomas Rainey, who passed away in 1964. She was born November 11, 1925 in Mapleville, RI, daughter of the late Auguste and Oringa (Vanasse) Marcoux.
She made her home in Brooklyn for over 50 years. She was a communicant of ST James Church in Danielson. She served as a Girl Scout Leader for the ST James Church, and volunteered for many years for Meal on Wheels. She worked for 15 years at the Pierce Memorial Baptist Home in Brooklyn. She was a very giving and devoted mother, grandmother and friend.
She leaves her children, Thomas Rainey, Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Brooklyn; Ronald Rainey and his wife Carol of Brooklyn; Robert Rainey and his wife Jo-Ann of Brooklyn. Judith Polaino and her husband Fred of Sterling; Linda Rainey of Brooklyn; Nancy Cole and her husband Steven of Brooklyn, brothers: Mathias Marcoux of RI; Albert Marcoux of RI, Laurier Marcoux of RI, sisters: Jacqueline Auger of RI; Sr. Solange Marcoux of NH; Laura Pepler of RI; Jean Lawrence of RI; Camille Connell of RI, ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren. She was predeceased by siblings Marguerite Robitaille, Bertrand Marcoux.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Monday, December 28, 2009 at St. James Church, 12 Franklin Street, Danielson. Calling Hours 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Sunday, December 27, 2009 at the Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds Street, Danielson. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Danielson.
