Obituary of Robert P. Larsen
Robert P. Larsen, 72, of Thompson, died Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at his home peacefully surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Patricia (Crowley) Larsen. Born August 8, 1937 in Manchester, son of the late George and Margaret Larsen.
Robert was a graduate of Manchester High School and in his youth, served in the Air National Guard as an Airman First Class. Robert spent a good portion of his life in Tolland raising his family and he was well known through-out the country as an avid Labrador Retriever trainer and handler. He competed in AKC Licensed Field Trials for over forty-five years and was a member of the Shoreline Retriever Club for 30 years. His accomplishments were many and included earning both AKC Field Champion and Amateur Field Champion Titles with four of his retrievers. Robert worked for the Connecticut Light and Power Company for 40 years, most recently in the role of Senior Claims Investigator for the Corporate Legal Department.
He leaves his wife Patricia; a daughter: Debra Ludlow and her husband Michael of Manchester; a son David Larsen and his wife Shari of Tolland; his brother Ronald Larsen of Manchester; a step sister Sharon Pack and her husband Raymond of FL, his grandchildren: Adam and Daniel Ludlow, Cameron and Ashlyn Larsen, Amanda Larsen, and his great grandchildren: Alicia and Eliana Larsen and several nieces and nephews.
A gathering will be held Sunday, January 17, 2010 at The Harvest Restaurant in Pomfret from 1:00 to 5:00 PM with a Memorial Service at 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert's memory to the AKC Canine Health Foundation, www.akcchf.org; or Hospice of NECT; or American Cancer Society; or Deary Fund c/o DKH, PO Box 632, Putnam.
